Murky Water Makes for a Murky Mind

The lake has been very murky lately…

The monsters that lie beneath it are swimming frantically as I try to keep my head above the water. They swarm my senses as my head starts to dip under the surface of the lake. Everything becomes fuzzy. Sounds travel faster to my eardrums. My heart begins to pound. My chest feels as if an anchor has been placed through it. The trees and clouds above the water become further and further away as the anchor drags me down into the depths of the murky lake. The light I once saw from the surface begins to fade as I hear the monsters whisper to me, “It’s been a while.”

Do you see the monsters?

Can you hear them?

I do…I wish I didn’t but alas…
